5 Spice Honey Glazed Chicken
I’ve tried several food prep plans since 2020 and continue using Tovala’s weekly meal services. I began with the six meals per week option. Due to health issues, shopping, cooking and clean-up was too difficult and covid19 initially limited take-out orders.
I’ve since been feeling a bit better and now have a four day a week plan. Each meal is the perfect portion size for me. I’ve also learned over the years how to tweak the recipe for my taste buds.
Tweaking Tovala recipes
Tovala meals includes the selected protein. I picked chicken this time vs chicken or pork. Also included are spices, glazes and the chosen side which for this meal was noodles. I normally don’t eat noodles but I’m happy I tried this meal.
- 5 Spice Honey Sauce
- Marinated Chicken
- Ginger Scallion Sauce
- Siracha (optional)
- The foil pans
I always tweak my protein (chicken for this meal) by cooking it first for about 10 minutes. I then added a bit of the sriracha and all of the honey sauce for the second cooking (16 minutes) along with the noodles (must add water).
The final step includes adding some of the ginger scallion sauce, some of the scallions and a bit of the sriracha sauce to the noodles while it’s in the foil pan. It’s all then placed in a bowl and enjoyed!
